Fall Is In The Air

I have proudly displayed my 114 lbs. worth of pumpkins on the front porch; however, we live in the middle of nowhere, so we'll be lucky if anyone sees them besides us. But, they put me in the mood for fall, so what the heck. Two weeks ago, the foliage was at its peak... best leaf-peepin' opportunities. My plan was for us to take a drive along Mountain Road and get some photos, but my plan was foiled due to the fact that we had too much other stuff we wanted to get done. So, I was thinking I would take some pictures of the trees around our house. Well, not three days later, the leaves were practically gone. So, I got nothing. The leaves were not their best this year, anyway. This was due to a dry August and September. Good moisture = good foliage colors. Oh well, maybe next year.
A few weeks ago we went to the Arts and Crafts Festival held in Stowe, Vt., and the Applefest held in the Champlain Islands. The Arts and Crafts Festival was great! We bought a picture to hang on our somewhat empty walls, and a piece of stained glass art to hang in a window. The place was full of many talented artists. Applefest was fun, although a bit strange. It seems to me that the town of Hero, Vt. got together and decided to have a giant garage sale, but deemed it a "festival" to try and keep it interesting. It wasn't a total loss... we had a piece of apple pie topped with caramel and ice cream. Yum! And, we picked some fresh apples which were delicious.
Every time we go to any kind of an art show I am always drawn to the pastel or stained glass art. I was thinking I would try my hand at drawing again, something I haven't done in years. I bought some pastels to experiment with, too. I'm having a lot of fun with it. If all goes well, I'm hoping I can create a couple of pictures worthy of being hung on the walls. If not, I guess I'll start decorating the garage.
